The BOA Youth Project Podium is making impressive strides in supporting young Barbadian athletes, providing them with the tools, guidance, and resources to reach their full potential.
Since its official launch, the program has focused on holistic athlete development — combining strength and conditioning, mental skills, nutrition, and communication workshops. Each athlete has been guided by a team of top sports professionals, including physiotherapists, podiatrists, nutritionists, psychologists, and strength & conditioning coaches. Using the Arc by Lumin Sports Technology platform, athletes and professionals are now tracking progress and setting goals more efficiently than ever.
Early results have been encouraging: athletes are fueling their bodies properly, hydrating, recovering effectively, and responding faster in training and competition. Coaches have reported improved focus, better body composition, and enhanced athletic performance.
The program has already seen tangible success in competition. Of the nine track and field athletes, five competed at the Barbados Secondary Schools Athletics Championships (BSSAC) — all making finals and medaling. One tennis athlete also excelled in the long jump, reaching the finals. Three athletes have already qualified for the Easter Weekend CARIFTA Championships in Trinidad, with continued support from the program to ensure optimal performance.
Looking ahead, athletes will continue developing communication skills in practical workshops, participate in Junior Pan Am qualifying championships in tennis and wrestling, and may have the exciting opportunity to train abroad at elite facilities. Follow-up assessments and parent-coach meetings will ensure continued growth and success.
The BOA Youth Project Podium is more than a training program — it’s a pathway for young athletes to reach their dreams, develop life skills, and shine on the international stage.
