Liza Dovhopol, a promising 14-year-old tennis player originally from Sumy, Ukraine, has overcome extraordinary challenges to pursue her dreams on the international tennis stage. Following the conflict in her home region, Liza and her mother relocated to Canada in 2022, where she continues to train under the guidance of Larry Jurovich and Tom McLean at The Tennis Centre in Surrey, BC.

Despite limited resources, Liza has already achieved remarkable results, including multiple provincial and ITF tournament victories, and a rapid rise in her international ranking. Her dedication, grit, and perseverance reflect her strong commitment to the sport.

The Amarone Charitable Trust has stepped in to provide crucial financial support, enabling Liza to participate in key ITF tournaments, cover coaching costs, and travel to competitions. This support ensures that she can continue competing at a high level and take advantage of the opportunities necessary for her growth and development.

Liza’s story is a powerful example of resilience, talent, and the transformative impact of support from generous donors. With the continued backing of the Trust, she is well-positioned to achieve her short-term goals of winning J60 and J100 ITF tournaments, and her long-term ambition of entering the WTA Top 100.

This journey highlights the importance of nurturing young athletes, providing them with resources, and empowering them to succeed despite challenging circumstances. The Amarone Charitable Trust remains proud to be part of Liza’s journey toward excellence.
